Greetings from the Outreach Committee

SoAP Box:
Outreach

Fall 2018

Christine Lee, PhD

Greetings from the Outreach Committee! Our mission is to increase communication and to disseminate knowledge about addiction psychology between: 1) clinicians and researchers working in addiction, and 2) SoAP and psychologists/health professionals interested in addiction psychology. Please see our inaugural “Clinical Pearl” (author: Paul Stasiewicz, our Member-At-Large, Practice), a series in which senior experts share their thoughts on how to address common but challenging clinical issues in addiction psychology.  Future submissions to the Clinical Pearl series will be reviewed by the Outreach Committee, which includes national experts on addiction psychology. This year, we have also launched a project for clinicians-in-training to review the state of science on addiction treatments under guided mentorship, and we will work on promoting awareness of addiction psychology in integrated care. We will also continue to collaborate to ensure high quality of the well-attended SoAP conference calls featuring national experts on addiction. The interdisciplinary Outreach Committee meets monthly and includes clinicians, academics, and students. It is a great group and a good opportunity to get more involved with SoAP while doing outreach to improve the care of individuals struggling with addiction and their families. If you're interested in our mission, and/or if you'd like to contribute to our Clinical Pearl Series, please contact Christine Lee at chr.lee@northeastern.edu.
