Call for Papers: Education and Training in Substance Use Disorders and Addictions

New Submission Deadline: January 1, 2019

Training and Education in Professional Psychology (TEPP) and Professional Psychology: Research and Practice (PPRP) have planned coordinated special issues on education and training (TEPP) and practice (PPRP) in substance use disorders and addictions.

TEPP seeks manuscripts focusing on all aspects of training and education relevant to psychologists’ work with substance use disorders and addictions, including training at doctoral, internship, and postdoctoral training levels; training in basic and applied research; training in application of evidence-based practice in the prevention, assessment, and treatment of substance use disorders and addictions; and professional issues involved with this work.

Quantitative and qualitative empirical studies as well as program development and evaluation studies that emphasize the process and outcomes of training are welcome.

Of particular interest are manuscripts that address integrative training, such as the arc of training from beginning to advanced levels, and the integration of training in basic addiction science and applied practice; or that address education that is integrated into a broad curriculum vs. provided as a more comprehensive or focused training emphasis.

Manuscripts that address training to work with diverse individuals and groups are strongly encouraged. Manuscripts more focused on psychological practice in substance use disorders and addictions work should be forwarded to PPRP.

All manuscripts should be submitted electronically by January 1, 2019 through the Manuscript Submission Portal.

Please read the Instructions for Authors for more information on manuscript preparation requirements for this journal.

Please note in your cover letter that you are submitting for consideration of publication in the special issue on Education and Training in Substance Use Disorders and Addictions.

For questions and consultations, please contact the Editor, Debora Bell or Associate Editor, Stephen McCutcheon.
