POSTDOCTORAL VISITOR AT YORK UNIVERSITY

Background

This postdoctoral fellowship is funded by SSHRC (Title: Univenture: A partnership to address heavy drinking and other substance misuse on Canadian University Campuses). The main goal of the position will be to contribute to the success of a multi-site trial examining a novel wellness program, called Univenture. The Univenture project aims to reduce substance use risk among university students by using a personality-matched framework.

Overall Purpose of Postdoctoral Position

As a central member of the Univenture team, the postdoctoral fellow will help lead the York University site of the trial. The fellow will work closely with Dr. Keough and other researchers, partners, and students involved in the study. This fellowship is ideal for an emerging researcher who has plans to pursue an academic career in psychology. See the key responsibilities below.

• The ability to work independently. • The ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative environment • Very organized and detail-oriented. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Trained to work with the baseline data to investigate ancillary research questions related to substance misuse, emotional wellness, academic performance, and their inter-relations • The ability to produce academic papers and conference presentations • The ability to prepare and coordinate primary ethical approval and support individual study site applications to local Research Ethics Boards • The ability to support the development of data collection protocols and tools; support and ensure standardised data collection, management and analysis practices across all study sites • Other skills as required: Oversee timelines and assist with timely completion of implementation goals at each site, support communication between sites, recording minutes for all meetings, report to funding agencies • Collaborate with public, private and academic partners that may benefit from and contribute to the upcoming scientific studies

Qualifications

Applicants must have completed all requirements for a PhD. Training/Experience Required Ideal candidate will have a PhD from a CPA or APA accredited program in clinical psychology Years of Experience Required Any candidate with a PhD degree in clinical psychology are encouraged to apply – irrespective of the number of years post-graduation.

Terms and Conditions

This postdoctoral position based in the Faculty of Health/Department of Psychology will be 2 years in length. There will be the possibility of renewal for an additional 1-2 years. Supervision for registration with CPO can be a part of the position, as well. Salary: $40,000 (inclusive of benefits)
