Job Description

The Psychology Department at Southern Utah University (http://suu.edu/hss/psychology/) seeks two Assistant or Associate Professors in the Tenure Track. These are full-time, 9-month positions to commence August 2019. The salary range will be based on CUPA Benchmarks, and SUU offers a competitive benefits package.

General Duties & Responsibilities
Duties include teaching 4 undergraduate courses per semester; making scholarly/creative contributions; and providing departmental, college, and/or university service/leadership. The specific course assignments are negotiable but may include General Psychology, Counseling & Psychotherapy, Group Dynamics, Personality Theory, Practicum, Case Conceptualization, Professional Ethics, Psychometrics, Abnormal Psychology, Drugs and Behavior, Human Development and Aging, or specialized classes that suit the candidate's qualifications. Interest in developing and teaching graduate courses is desirable.

Required Qualifications:

Qualified applicants will have a Ph.D. or Psy.D. (an Ed.D may be considered) in clinical or counseling psychology from an APAaccredited doctoral program, demonstrate excellence in teaching, and have a commitment to undergraduate student research, community engagement, and other high impact educational practices. Area of specialization is open, but experience in rural and underserved populations, psychometrics and assessment, diversity, substance abuse treatment, program design and evaluation, clinical supervision, geropsychology, or other dimensions of clinical work is desirable, as is experience in evidence-based engaged learning pedagogies. Qualified individuals will be licensed or license eligible in Utah. Strong interpersonal skills and collegiality are essential. In accordance with Utah State Code 53B-110 appointment to this position is contingent upon the successful passing of a background check.
