The Office of Health and Health Care Financing invites self-nominations for the CPT coding advisory group. https://www.apaservices.org/practice/reimbursement/cpt-advisory-group-nomination
This advisory group will advise Stephen Gillaspy, PhD, senior director of health and health care financing and APA’s representatives to the AMA’s CPT and RUC. The main functions of the advisory group will be to review and provide feedback on CPT code applications and assist in the development of coding and policy resource documents for psychologists and payers. The advisory group will partner with staff from the Office of Health and Health Care Financing, as well as offices within the Practice Directorate, and across APA.
APASI invites self-nominations for psychologists with differing perspectives, diversities, clinical expertise, and career status. Nominees need to have a strong background and interest in CPT coding and billing, as well as reimbursement policies and procedures. Additionally, psychologists with experience and expertise in new and emerging methods of assessment and treatment, as well as integration of existing and evolving modalities, such as digital therapeutics, are sought.
Self-nominations should include a CV, statement (no more than 500 words) describing the candidate’s expertise and qualifications relative to the main functions for the advisory group described above, and completion of the nominee form. Also note that much of the work conducted by the advisory group must be kept strictly confidential in order to uphold the obligations of APA’s involvement with the AMA CPT and RUC. Further, any breach of confidentiality may result in sanctions imposed by the AMA, such as being suspended or barred from further CPT and RUC participation.
APASI hopes to appoint at least one early-career psychologist. Advisory group members will be appointed for an initial two-year term, with the option of extending their appointment one or two years so that terms of service will ultimately be staggered in length. Members are expected to participate in one-hour virtual monthly meetings and commit additional time and effort to the group in between these meetings. Questions can be directed to Stephen Gillaspy, PhD. Nominations and supporting materials should be directed to Towhanna Boston via email. The nomination deadline is February 28, 2023.
