University of Southern Mississippi Seeking Doctoral Students for Fall 2019

News Date: Monday, August 13, 2018 - 13:45

I am seeking qualified students to work with me in my research lab and our doctoral or master’s counseling psychology program at the University of Southern Mississippi (https://www.usm.edu/counseling-psychology).  Students who work with me have many opportunities to engage in research studying college student substance use and harm reduction. We recently have developed a great collaboration with the student health services that allows students to receive clinical training providing brief motivational interventions on campus as well as providing support services for the USM Campus Recovery Community. Additionally, students receive advanced training in motivational interviewing and assist in MI related projects. Graduates from the lab have secured positions as psychologists in VAs, university counseling centers, the Department of Defense and research postdocs at the Center on Alcoholism, Substance Abuse and Addictions. Further, 100% of master’s students from the lab who applied to PhD programs have been accepted. Any interested students should visit the lab website (http://www.usmbarlab.com/) and email me at Michael.madson@usm.edu. Colleagues please feel free to share with students (we also admit students with master’s degrees). Thanks for your consideration.
