Assistant Professor, Tenure-Track, University of Florida Department of Health Education and Behavior
The Department of Health Education and Behavior (HEB) at the University of Florida (UF) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank. The Department has established research programs in behavioral aspects of substance misuse; obesity, physical activity, and nutrition; and sexual health, including HIV/AIDS, other STIs, violence prevention, and reproductive health. Preferred candidates will have research programs in these areas or areas that closely complement them. Applications are encouraged from candidates with theoretical frameworks relevant to health behaviors such as behavioral economics, a research record in the modification of health-related behavioral risk factors, strong quantitative or mixed methods research skills, experience with multidisciplinary collaboration, a focus on health equity, use of digital technologies for health promotion, and implementation/dissemination of evidence-based health behavior change programs. We seek applicants who will conduct an independent research program and participate in collaborative research; teach in department graduate and undergraduate educational programs; and mentor M.S./Ph.D. students. HEB faculty members are active research collaborators and contribute to research training in university-wide centers, including the Center for Behavioral Economic Health Research, Center for Addiction Research and Education, and Southern HIV and Alcohol Research Consortium. Candidates must have earned their doctorate in health behavior, health education, or a related public health or social/behavioral sciences field prior to appointment and evidence a strong scientific background and the ability or potential to secure external research funding. Ability to contribute to the department’s teaching mission is highly desirable. HEB (http://heb.hhp.ufl.edu/) is home to 21 full-time faculty members and enrolls over 400 undergraduate majors and 115 graduate students. This 9-month, full-time (1.0 FTE) position begins August 16, 2023, or can be flexible. UF has a competitive benefits package, and department faculty are eligible for summer salary.
