We are pleased to announce our next monthly Clinical Teleconference, sponsored by your pals at the Society of Addiction Psychology (SoAP).
This month we are honored to be able to present Dr. Edward Khantzian, a pioneer in the field of substance use disorders. Dr. Khantzian is Professor of Psychiatry (PT), Harvard Medical School. He is a practicing psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, participant in numerous clinical research studies on substance abuse, and lecturer and writer on psychiatry, psychoanalysis, and substance use problems. Dr. Khantzian. He is author of “Addiction and the Vulnerable Self”, “Treating Addiction: Beyond the Pain”, and many other volumes and is known for his development of the “Self-Medication Hypothesis” of addiction. Dr. Khantzian will be presenting on Self-Medication Theory and Addiction as a Self-Regulation Disorder. An outline of his talk will be forwarded to all on my distribution list (you, too, can be added!) or anyone else who requests it.
