Hello Division 50 psychology graduate student interns and faculty!
We have a number of postdoctoral fellowships available at VA Connecticut Healthcare System. See below and attached documents for more information.
VA Connecticut Healthcare System is a level 1A teaching hospital home to multiple research centers and affiliated with Yale School of Medicine and University of Connecticut School of Medicine. VA Connecticut is routinely among the top ten of the 170 VA medical centers in the nation for grant funding, with $76 million in active funding in 2023-24.
We are recruiting psychology postdoctoral fellows interested in building research careers in SUD, PTSD, Health Services Research, and more. Our facility has a strong track record of helping fellows obtain two- and five-year career development awards, multiple opportunities for pilot funding, and faculty expert in a wide range of research methodologies and clinical issues.
Candidates with interest in SUD and addictions may consider the Advanced Fellowship in Mental Illness Research and Treatment at MIRECC https://www.mirecc.va.
and the Interprofessional Advanced Fellowship on Addictions https://medicine.
Faculty have expertise in a wide variety of methodologies (behavioral treatment clinical trials from pilot to hybrid trials, health services research, mixed methods, ecological momentary assessment, qualitative methods, digital interventions, and implementation science). Fellowships also include psychology clinical training, and most fellows are eligible for licensure by the end of their first year of fellowship. We also partner with the Bedford VA (see attached document for more information).
Candidates with interest in PTSD and clinical neurosciences may consider the Advanced Fellowship in Mental Illness Research and Treatment at National Center for PTSD https://www.va.gov/files/
With a wealth of fellowship opportunities to consider, candidates may apply to more than one program, or may contact program directors to inquire about program fit. VA Connecticut Healthcare System and the Department of Veterans Affairs adhere to all Equal Employment Opportunity policies.
The healthcare system:
VA Connecticut Healthcare System includes a Level 1A complexity teaching hospital and multiple smaller facilities, and is affiliated with Yale School of Medicine and University of Connecticut School of Medicine. The Psychology service is home to about 80 psychologists, including research psychologists supported by centers and grants from VA, NIH, DoD, and other funding. Most VA Connecticut psychologists are involved in some combination of clinical practice, supervision/teaching, and research, and most hold an academic appointment at Yale School of Medicine or University of Connecticut School of Medicine. A shuttle running frequently between VA Connecticut and Yale School of Medicine permits fellows to easily access Grand Rounds and other opportunities at the academic affiliate.
