Postdoctoral Fellowships at Tennessee Institute for Gambling Education & Research

The Tennessee Institute for Gambling Education & Research (TIGER) is seeking applicants for two postdoctoral fellowships focused on gambling disorder treatment and research. Fellows will be involved in TIGER research projects, provision of gambling treatment to individuals across Tennessee, and supervision of student therapists.
TIGER is a research and treatment center in Tennessee that is affiliated with the APA-accredited clinical psychology doctoral programs at University of Memphis and East Tennessee State University. Recognized as an international leader in gambling disorder research and treatment, the Institute currently operates the longest-standing gambling clinic in the United States with locations across Tennessee that serve diverse urban and rural cultural groups (www.thegamblingclinic.com). The fellowship includes full-time scientist-practitioner training with a focus on motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral treatment, and contingency management with collaborative efforts to ensure the fellow gains competencies of interest.
Mentors include Drs. Meredith Ginley, Rory Pfund, and James Whelan. Information on their research interests can be found on their webpages. Fellows will work with a team of clinical psychologists, peer recovery specialists, and clinical psychology doctoral students. Areas of research focus can include but are not limited to assessment, prevention, treatment, policy work, mental health marketing, systematic reviews, grant writing, clinical trial support, and treatment of comorbid conditions.
Minimum Position Qualifications
1. PhD in clinical or counseling psychology
2. Completion or expected completion of an accredited/APPIC listed internship
3. Demonstrated interest in the field of addictions with a preference for those with an interest in behavioral addiction
4. Commitment to providing quality clinical services
5. United States citizen or a noncitizen national of the United States.
Applications received by January 30, 2025, will be given best consideration. Start date to begin as early as July 1, 2025. The initial appointment is for one year, with the potential for up to three years of support available based on performance. Following the completion of one year, fellows will have met the requirements for license eligibility as a psychologist with a health service provider designation in Tennessee.
