Postdoctoral Fellowship Position in the Division of Alcohol, Drugs, and Addiction at McLean Hospital and Harvard Medical School
The Stress, Anxiety and Substance Use Laboratory directed by R. Kathryn McHugh, PhD anticipates an opening for a postdoctoral research fellow starting in Summer 2020. The Stress, Anxiety and Substance Use Lab focuses on the role of stress and anxiety in the risk and maintenance of substance use disorders. The major current research projects in the lab include studies of (1) the role of suicidality in opioid overdose, (2) behavioral strategies for reducing stress reactivity in people with opioid use disorder, (3) the role of pain reactivity in opioid use disorder outcomes, and (4) benzodiazepine misuse in women with substance use disorders.
The fellow will work primarily on a NIDA-funded trial examining mechanisms linking pain to opioid use disorder outcomes. Fellows have access to existing datasets and collaborative opportunities in the Division of Alcohol, Drugs, and Addiction and across the McLean system. Supervised clinical hours are available for those seeking licensure.
Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology or a related field is required. Major job duties may include: project management; prepare scientific manuscripts and present data during professional meetings; assist PI in preparing grant applications; train research assistants and junior investigators.
