Nova Southeastern University's Center for Applied Research on Substance Use and Health Disparities (ARSH) in Miami, Florida invites applications for a full-time Assistant/Associate Professor position. ARSH's research portfolio is focused on the epidemiology, prevention, and treatment of substance abuse and HIV infection, as well as other co-occurring health disparities among vulnerable populations.
The successful applicant will have a PhD in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, social or behavioral science, criminal justice, or a related discipline, as well as a strong record of research and publication in substance use; HIV epidemiology, prevention and/or treatment; or related topical areas. A history of externally funded research or the demonstrated ability to attract external funding is strongly preferred. The position is open to a wide range of research interests, target populations, and geographic foci, although advanced knowledge of and expertise in prescription opioid misuse and/or heroin use is desired. The successful candidate will have advanced skills in at least three research processes (e.g., statistical analysis of social science data, research design, social network analyses, technology and mHealth, behavioral research utilizing biomarkers, intervention development and design).
The successful candidate will be expected to engage in research and seek external funding (e.g., NIH) to support his/her research agenda; support existing ARSH studies as a Co-Investigator; and collaborate with ARSH scientists on research activities, including writing manuscripts, data analyses, and writing grants.
