VA BOSTON HEALTHCARE SYSTEM, ADDICTION RECOVERY FELLOWSHIP

 

The Clinical Psychology Program at the VA Boston Healthcare System (VABHS) offers an Addiction Recovery Track that involves training in the treatment of substance use disorders. The Addiction Recovery Track based on the Brockton Campus of VABHS remains unfilled for the 2022-2023 training year.  The following experiences are offered: 

 

  • Comprehensive understanding of assessment and treatment approaches for individuals with alcohol and drug problems, co-occurring psychiatric disorders (e.g. PTSD, affective disorders, anxiety disorders, and personality disorders), and co-occurring psychosocial issues (e.g. medical comorbidities, homelessness, legal issues).
  • Experience working in both residential and outpatient settings; learning to conduct comprehensive assessments; and providing evidence-based, CBT-oriented group and individual therapy to veterans with SUDs.
  • Training to provide supervision to junior trainees.
  • Opportunities for program development and performance improvement activities, as well as in clinical research.
