The Ethics Code Task Force requested that we provide information to Council members regarding its request to Divisions, State, Provincial and Territorial Psychological Associations, Boards and Committees. Council members will then be able to check with the President of their Division or SPTA if they are interested in encouraging that group to provide a response.
The ECTF is requesting input concerning the core principles that are identified in the current Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct available at https://www.apa.org/ethics/code/index. Specifically, the ECTF is asking if the current principles need to be changed (i.e. renamed, reframed, or revised) and if any additional principles should be added.
The ECTF request for information is not a solicitation of public comment from individuals. Rather, the ECTF request is intended to seek input from each Division, SPTA, Board and Committee as a unit. Each entity can determine whether and how best to submit a single response to the request.
Divisions and SPTAs were provided a link for submitting a response and Boards and Committees will be given the same link via a cross-cutting item for the Spring Consolidated Meeting. The deadline date for submitting responses is April 8, 2019.
