E-cigarette and cigarette visual stimuli

News Date: Saturday, December 14, 2019 - 11:30

Researchers at Florida International University are collecting e-cigarette and cigarette related visual stimuli (images or videos) for cue reactivity paradigms and the development of a publicly available stimuli repository. The landscape of nicotine products is rapidly shifting with the entry of a vast variety of popular electronic nicotine delivery system (ENDS) products and ENDS-related paraphernalia. Therefore, achieving a comprehensive and representative collection of visual ENDS-related stimuli for cognitive tasks will require consideration of multiple parameters on which products can vary including types of e-liquid containers, brands, and flavors, as well as ENDS product generations/types. Providing an openly available vaping-related stimuli set, with appropriately matched cigarette and control stimuli, may serve to reduce duplication of these stimuli-generation efforts. Further, this resource could facilitate the adaptation of a variety of behavioral paradigms employed to investigate the development and perpetuation of nicotine addiction in this new nicotine product landscape. If you have nicotine-product related images or videos, including but not limited to: ENDS products, e-liquids, humans handling ENDS, humans vaping, and/or have matched combustible cigarette or control stimuli and are willing to share, please email jflan008@fiu.edu. Thank you so much for your consideration!
