The Society of Addiction Psychology offers the Student Research Grant program to support graduate student research in the field of addiction psychology. Four Student Research Grants of up to $1000.00 each are awarded each year.

One project will be selected by the President Elect of SoAP based, in part, on how closely the project aligns with the presidential theme. This year, the presidential theme is "Bridging the Gap: Digital Innovation in Addiction Psychology." A second award will be selected for a project which focuses on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion in addiction science and/or focuses on addiction-related health disparities/inequities. Submissions for this award will be reviewed by the SoAP Grant Review Committee, chaired by Dr. Ty Schepis, and a top-scored application in this category will be funded. The two other awardees will also be selected by the SoAP Grant Review Committee. The committee will review the remaining applications and choose two of the top-scored grants.

These annual awards will be presented to students whose research reflects excellence in addiction psychology and will be evaluated on the criteria outlined in the attached instructional packet. The award winners are required to attend and present the study's findings at the annual Collaborative Perspectives on Addiction or American Psychological Association conference after the study's conclusion. As part of the award, recipients will have their conference registration fee provided and will receive up to $500.00 in travel funds This travel allocation is in addition to the allotted $1000.00 and does not need to be deducted from the project's budget.
