Call for Proposals: SoAP Student Research Grant

News Date: Monday, February 17, 2025 - 10:30

The Society of Addiction Psychology (SoAP) is excited to offer the Student Research Grant program to support graduate student research in the field of addiction psychology. Each year, four grants of up to $1,000 are awarded.

This year, one of the four projects will be selected by the SoAP President-Elect Dr. Noah Emery, based in part on how well the project aligns with the presidential theme: "The Science of Lived Experience: Reimagining Research Through Lived and Learned Expertise." A second grant will be awarded to a project focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion in addiction science and/or addiction-related health disparities/inequities. This award will be selected by the SoAP Grant Review Committee, chaired by Dr. Ty Schepis, and given to the highest-scoring application in this category. The remaining two grants will be awarded to top-scoring applications reviewed by the SoAP Grant Review Committee.

These annual awards will be presented to students whose research reflects excellence in addiction psychology and will be evaluated on the criteria outlined in the attached instructional packet. Recipients are required to attend and present their study findings either at the annual Collaborative Perspectives on Addiction conference or the American Psychological Association convention upon project completion. As part of the award, recipients will have their conference registration fee waived and will receive up to $500 in travel funds. This travel allocation is in addition to the allotted $1000 and does not need to be deducted from the project's budget.

Applications are due May 1st, 2025. Please see the attached document for submission details.
