Assistant professor position at Washington State University

The DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY AT WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Pullman, WA, with a specialty in Maternal-Child Health Inequities. We seek applicants who conduct research connected to Maternal-Child Health Inequities, who have research expertise in perinatal health disparities and underserved populations, as well as social determinants of health. The position is part of a faculty cluster hire initiative on racism and social inequity, with a focus on health disparities and health justice, in the Americas. The university is particularly interested in hiring scholars who are connected to and integrated into the underserved communities involved in research, building on our strong tradition of engaged and applied scholarship at WSU. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will begin the appointment on August 16, 2022.

Job duties include developing and maintaining a productive research program, seeking appropriate grant funding, mentoring graduate student research, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses on topics in psychology (such as clinical health, developmental or quantitative methods), collaborating with members of other departments and programs (e.g., the WSU Transdisciplinary Maternal-Child Health Research Program; https://healthequity.wsu.edu/), and participating in meaningful community engagement.

Required Qualifications: The successful candidate must -

1.    have an earned doctoral degree in Psychology or closely related field by August 15, 2022
2.    demonstrate a record of research publication addressing Maternal-Child Health Inequities
3.    provide evidence of developing and maintaining a productive program of research
4.    provide evidence of successful teaching and instruction
5.    demonstrate their commitment to campus diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts
6.    show significant engagement with the communities involved in their research

Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in Psychology, postdoctoral experience of at least 12 months, and demonstrated potential for grant funding.  Applicants who have worked with populations most impacted by health inequities are especially encouraged to apply.
