Assistant Professor: Clinical Psychology, University of North Carolina Wilmington

News Date: Saturday, November 8, 2025 - 09:15

The Department of Psychology in the College of Science and Engineering at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) invites applications for a full-time, nine-month tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2026.

The successful applicant will serve as a core faculty member in our APA-accredited PhD program in General Clinical Psychology. The specific area of research is open; however, we especially encourage applications from candidates whose work can contribute to translational research in our department’s training clinic.
Research or clinical experience in assessment is valued, though not required. In addition to providing clinical training and supervision for doctoral students—particularly in work with adult populations—applicants will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, recruit and mentor graduate students, and engage in departmental and university service.

  • Doctorate: PhD in Clinical Psychology and completion of an APA-accredited internship. Please note: ABD candidates will be considered; however, the PhD must be conferred by August 1, 2026, to be eligible for employment
  • Licensure: Licensed or license-eligible in North Carolina. Candidates are expected to obtain full licensure prior to tenure
  • Program Participation: Ability to serve as a core faculty member in the General Clinical PhD program
  • Clinical Supervision: Experience providing clinical supervision in psychological therapy and/or assessment
  • Research: Prepared to establish and maintain an independent program of research
