Treating Trauma with Psychedelics Panel This Evening

News Date: Wednesday, June 24, 2020 - 07:15

The first panel of our virtual Summer Series, Treating Trauma with Psychedelics, is coming up tomorrow, Wednesday, June 24th, at 6 PM EST!
This panel is co-sponsored by DoubleBlind magazine.

The psychedelic therapy community has been dominated mainly by white, CIS gender, and financially advantaged people for a long time. That includes those who control it as well as those who have access to it. It’s time to discuss how the abusive and racist structure of our society has shaped our psychedelic community. This structuring means that some of the societal trauma that BIPOC and gender non-conforming people have already experienced gets replicated in our community, where they are seeking healing. How can we advocate and meet the needs of these populations? What are the unique approaches needed to work with trauma in these populations? The type of trauma that these groups have experienced requires a specialized and sensitive approach, how can we prepare psychedelic therapists properly for this? Additionally, the cost of therapy is out of reach for many. It’s long overdue that we find ways to make it more accessible.
