Supportive Housing Program Seeking a Part-time Harm Reduction Psychologist NYC

News Date: Wednesday, March 8, 2023 - 09:00

The Lee, the program described below is seeking a part time Harm Reduction Psychologist.

I have worked with this program and it is a wonderful program with a terrific, spirited harm reduction minded staff.

The Lee, a supportive housing site (details below) located on the lower east side is looking for a harm reduction psychologist to provide 4 – 6 hours of in person therapy per week to building tenants at $180/hourly. The provider would work alongside a team of staff, including the patients’ assigned social worker or case manager, clinical supervisor, and ( in may cases) on-site psychiatrist. Weekly sign out and support would be available.  Psychiatry and Medical Care are offered onsite weekly by Janian Medical.

The Lee

The Lee, a 262 unit supported housing residence, opened as a new construction in the Lower East Side in 2010.  Managed by Breaking Ground, The Lee building hosts two social service programs, CUCS and The Door.  The Door provides services to 55 young adults who were at high risk of homelessness at the time they aged out of foster care.  CUCS provides comprehensive social services to the remaining 207 low-income single adult tenants, may who have histories of mental illness, homelessness, substance abuse, and/or HIV/AIDS.  On-site staff partner with clients to maintain their housing and build fulfilling lives through case management, on-site psychiatric and primary care, individual and group clinical support, psychoeducation, crisis intervention, supported employment, and tenant services activities in the building. Staff utilize evidence-based practices, including motivational interviewing, harm reduction, and wellness self-management.

All units inhabited by CUCS clients are studio apartments with private bathrooms and kitchenettes.  The building, which is equipped with a state-of-the-art security system and has 24-hour security on-site, features a spacious lobby, front and back outdoor space, a computer lab, a fitness center and on-site laundry facility. The Lee was built with environmentally friendly materials such as bamboo flooring and countertops made from recycled materials, and includes a green roof, which creates energy savings.
