Postdoctoral Position in Social Psychology and Health, University of Massachusetts Amherst

Dr. Allecia Reid, in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, is seeking applications for a 2-year Postdoctoral Research Associate beginning in September 2018. 

POSITION DESCRIPTION. The position will focus on the roles of psychological and social factors in health and development of psychological interventions to improve health outcomes.  Psychosocial factors and processes of interest may include cognitions, social networks, mimicry, and social norms.  Studies will focus primarily on alcohol use as the health outcome of interest, but may also examine consumption of unhealthy foods and sexual risk behavior. Specific responsibilities may include designing, programming, and conducting research studies; analyzing experimental and longitudinal data; and contributing to manuscripts, conference presentations, and grant preparation. The fellow will have opportunities to publish from existing data sets, as well as to continue his or her program of research, facilitated by access to the department's participant pool and undergraduate research assistants.  Postdoctoral Research Associates at the University of Massachusetts are unionized and receive standard salary and benefits commensurate with experience.  Funding for conference travel will also be available.

QUALIFICATIONS. Applicants must have a Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in psychology or a related discipline by the time of appointment.  Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with both experimental and correlational designs; strong quantitative skills (e.g., mediation analysis, structural equation modeling, multilevel and/or growth modeling); and expertise and experience in relevant research domains.
