Penn State University Consortium to Combat Substance Abuse Seeking 5 Tenure Track/ Tenured Positions

The Departments of Biobehavioral Health, Human Development and Family Studies, Neural & Behavioral Sciences, Psychology, and Sociology and Criminology, in conjunction with the Social Science Research Institute (SSRI;http://www.ssri.psu.edu/) at The Pennsylvania State University, announce five tenure track or tenured positions in substance abuse as part of the University’s recently launched Consortium to Combat Substance Abuse (CCSA; https://CombatSubstanceAbuse.ssri.psu.edu). Penn State is committed to building our research, education and outreach capacity to address the complex problem of substance abuse and will hire up to twelve new faculty members over the next four years. These strategic hires will build on our faculty’s long tradition of excellence in interdisciplinary and translational research on substance abuse and addiction.

We seek colleagues whose research interests and expertise fit within a broad array of topic areas, described in the individual position announcements shared in the links provided above. Our expectation is that these new colleagues will work actively to build a powerful inter-disciplinary community of scholars focused on illuminating the multi-level processes that give rise to addiction, designing, implementing, evaluating, and disseminating novel, evidence-based approaches for prevention and treatment of addiction and identifying and ameliorating the effects of substance abuse on families and communities.

Salaries are competitive, commensurate with background and experience. An attractive benefits package is available as are startup funds to support the applicant’s research program. Successful applicants will have an opportunity to play a leadership role in the CCSA.
