Northeastern University Summer Public Health Education and Research Experience (SPHERE)

Northeastern University is excited to announce that they will be launching the Summer Public Health Education and Research Experience (SPHERE) this summer. The program is targeted to undergraduates who have not yet had opportunity to have this type of intensive, mentored research experience.

Key details about the program:

  • Takes place May 28th to August 5th: a week and a half of instruction followed by 8 weeks in research labs
  • Held at Northeastern University’s Boston Campus, providing opportunity to study in the heart of Boston, a hub for education, innovation, and healthcare.
  • $6,000 stipend plus food and travel expenses
  • Skills include how to conduct research, analyze data, and communicate findings effectively.
  • The goal of the program is to provide hands-on mentoring, professional development, and a vibrant academic community to help students gain tools to excel.
  • February 24th application deadline

Research training includes methods in epidemiology, health communication, health education, prevention science, health informatics, health psychology, and biostatistics. Content areas include addictive behaviors, physical activity, sexual health behavior, stigma, stress, and HIV.
