Harm Reduction Psychotherapy: A Psychoanalytic Perspective with Dr. Debbie Rothschild

News Date: Monday, June 7, 2021 - 10:45

Dear Colleague,

The Center For Optimal Living will be be hosting Dr. Debbie Rothschild. Debbie is one of the most prolific contributors to the literature on harm reduction psychotherapy with a special focus on the intersection of relational psychoanalysis and HRP. The work at the Center is based on an understanding of the addictive experience as having relational meanings and functions that call for an emphasis on alliance and relationship as primary agents of healing, growth and positive change.

Psychoanalysts who are interested in a harm reduction approach to treating addictive and risky behavior and harm reductionists interested in the psychoanalytic dimension are invited.

Friday, May 15th from 9 to 11am EST
Fee: $25 / CE Credits will be provided.
Contrary to popular belief, psychoanalytic theories can be exceptionally helpful and relevant to the treatment of substance misuse, especially with a harm reduction approach.  An integrated approach that utilizes these concepts along with more traditional harm reduction techniques will be presented with time for clinical discussion and questions from audience members.
