Brown University Seeking Tenure-Track Professor

The Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences in the Brown University School of Public Health seeks a scientist faculty member for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level. The position will be available July 1, 2019. We are seeking outstanding candidates who have experience in digital technologies for public health, including but not limited to technology-based interventions for public health and global health. Focus areas include smartphone applications, wearable sensors, geospatial mapping and fencing, software development, and quantitative methods for analysis of mHealth data. The target behaviors or health conditions could include but are not limited to substance use disorders, physical activity, nutrition, obesity, and HIV. 

The faculty member would join a robust group of faculty in the Department and School conducting research in mobile health, telemedicine, and data science. We are seeking an individual who will support the development of a larger program of research in digital health, including growing our focus on interdisciplinary science and partnering with computer science, engineering, and medicine. 

Candidates are expected to be prepared to develop an independent program of externally-funded research in mobile technologies and public health, including establishing a focused research program that attracts funding in the form of grants, contracts, and/or fellowships. Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, mentoring students and postdoctoral fellows, and providing service to the department and school. 

The Department has an exceptionally strong portfolio of behavioral health and intervention research and includes 9 tenured or tenure-track faculty and 30 research faculty. Qualifications

Applicants must have a doctoral degree in Public Health, Psychology, Medicine, or related fields, evidence of rigorous training in health behavior science, and outstanding research potential including peer-reviewed publications and capacity to secure external funding. Applicants should have excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrate strong ability and interest in teaching and mentoring.
