News Date: Tuesday, August 7, 2018 - 10:15

DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY
BINGHAMTON UNIVERSITY

A postdoctoral position is open in the laboratory of Dr. Marvin Diaz in the Department of Psychology at Binghamton University in Binghamton, NY. The research program in Dr. Diaz’s lab is interested in investigating the cellular and synaptic processes by which developmental exposure to psychoactive substances, specifically prenatal alcohol, may be a causal factor for psychopathology, particularly anxiety. To query these questions, we utilize a combination of behavior, slice electrophysiology, and molecular (i.e. immunohistochemistry) techniques along with optogenetic and chemogenetic techniques.

We are currently seeking a highly-motivated candidate with experience in studying behavioral and neurophysiological effects of substances of abuse to a lead a project investigating the long-term impact of prenatal alcohol exposure on affective dysfunction and addiction vulnerability. The successful candidate will join and participate with a highly interactive neuroscience community within the Psychology Department and the NIAAA-funded P50 Developmental Exposure Alcohol Research Center (DEARC) and T32 Developmental and Neuroadaptations in Alcohol and Addiction (DNA2) at Binghamton University.

A recent Ph.D degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, or Pharmacology is preferred. Please submit a CV, personal statement including research/career goals, and contact for 3 references to Dr. Marvin Diaz, Ph.D (mdiaz@binghamton.edu).
