I’m writing to remind you of that wonderful time of the month, the second Friday, on which we host our SoAP Clinical Teleconference. In case you are new to this, or have forgotten, this conference call is sponsored by the Society of Addiction Psychology (APA Division 50) but is available to any and all interested parties.
Despite all our superstitious impulses, our next call is on Friday April 13, 2018 and features Brandon Bergman, Ph.D. speaking on “Recovery-related use of social media: So much promise, so little data”. Dr. Bergman will present findings that outline a) recovery-related online technology use, including social network sites, b) perceived benefits from engaging with a large, recovery-specific social network site, and c) general-interest social network site (e.g., Facebook, Instagram) participation among emerging adults in outpatient SUD treatment.
Dr. Bergman is the Associate Director and Research Scientist at the Recovery Research Institute of the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), instructor at Harvard Medical School, and a licensed clinical psychologist. He completed is Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Nova Southeastern University, and his psychology internship and addiction psychology postdoctoral fellowship at MGH and the Harvard Medical School.
As usual, the relevant information is as follows:
Time: Friday, April 13, 2018
Call-In Number: 641-715-3580

), along with many previous calls. As noted, feel free to disseminate this information to any interested parties, of any clinical persuasion. Also contact me if you have any further questions about this event.
Thanks, and see you Friday the 13th! Don’t walk under any ladders prior to the call, ok?
