The Applied Research Scientist I is a non-tenure track researcher in the Health Outcomes and Behavior department who serves as part of a research team under the direction of Dr. Christine Vinci. Dr. Vinci has NIH-funded research that focuses on cognitive and affective mechanisms (e.g., affect, affect regulation, expectancies) implicated in the development, maintenance, and treatment of cancer-risk behaviors. Much of her research is focused on mindfulness-based treatments, as these interventions can target mechanisms that are central to changing behaviors including smoking cessation, decreasing alcohol use, and reducing caregiver stress. The research program also makes use of current and emerging technology such as augmented reality, wearable devices, and machine learning. Dr. Vinci is part of Moffitt’s Tobacco Research & Intervention Program (TRIP). More information about Dr. Vinci’s research program can be found at https://vincilab.moffitt.
The Applied Research Scientist will be responsible for supporting Dr. Vinci’s ongoing research activities. These responsibilities broadly include assisting grant development and preparation, drafting manuscripts for peer-review submission, dissemination of research findings, and managing the scientific advancement of multiple studies.
