APA Monitor special issue on opioid epidemic

News Date: Sunday, December 9, 2018 - 09:00

APA's Monitor on Psychology magazine is planning a special issue on the opioid epidemic. Deborah Bailey is gathering background information for the issue, and welcomes Division 50 member input on topics that can be covered or suggestions of psychologists to interview to write the articles. The issue will showcase the role psychologists are playing, and could increasingly play, in solutions to the opioid epidemic--whether that's in prevention, treatment, research or advocacy.

Please reach out to dsmithbailey@gmail.com or (703) 203-8856, to recommend a specific topic or psychologist's work regarding the opioid epidemic. The magazine is especially looking for insights that psychologists may not typically know about, including on:

* New or promising prevention efforts

* Workplace issues related to opioids

* Housing security and other social safety nets

* Emerging or notable treatment / how psychologists can get training in treating opiod use disorders

* Managing conditions that co-occur with opioid use

* Any other topics important for psychologists
